Gaston Park, some would dubbed it as the BM’s (Boy/Maid) meeting place during weekends, but the truth is all walks of life enjoys spending time at the city’s oldest landmark.

Depicting the city’s rich history and cultural heritage, it is the historical place for all Cagay-anons. It is the silent witness of happy memories of Cagay-anons during the olden days because most people spent thier special moments here to take photos as memento for their special days. There were no Malls before and Gaston Park was the city’s center of entertainment and public gatherings.

Named after a pre-war Municipal Mayor of Cagayan de Oro, Segundo Gaston, the park is located near the St. Augustine Cathedral and the Archbishop’s Palace. Gaston Park was the main plaza of Cagayan de Misamis during the Spanish colonial period. It served as the training ground of local patriots during the Philippine-American War. Later it became the site of the Battle of Cagayan de Misamis on April 7, 1900. A National Historical Institute marker was placed in the park in 2000.

Today, the colorful dancing fountain is the center of attraction at the park launched last year, replacing the original old fountain which has been giving awe to the Cagay-anon people for years.
