The family company behind CDO homegrown mall Limketkai Center honors the philanthropic legacies of Don Lim Ket Kai and Doña Rosario Limketkai through a community-based outreach program.

A Heartfelt Tribute to Founders

Earlier today, in Cagayan de Oro City, Limketkai Sons Inc. (LKKS), one of the region’s leading real estate developers and the company behind CDO’s homegrown mall Limketkai Center, initiated a gift-giving and worship activity to benefit Barangay 31, Barangay 35, and Lapasan. This benevolent endeavor, named “Bless the Community,” is a heartfelt tribute to the late Don Lim Ket Kai and Doña Rosario Limketkai, who transformed a small agri-manufacturing business from the 1920s into the expansive Limketkai Manufacturing Corporation (LMC), LKKS, and numerous sister companies.

Recognizing the Community’s Contribution

Acknowledging the pivotal role of the community in the success of its 40-hectare commercial and business district Limketkai Center, LKKS is committed to giving back to its surrounding local populations. The initial rollout of “Bless the Community” will benefit 3,000 members of these communities with basic food necessity packs, which include one of LMC’s flagship products, Marca Leon cooking oil. This initiative underscores the company’s gratitude and recognition of the support and patronage it has received from these local communities over the years.

Enriching the Soul Beyond Material Gifts

Beyond the provision of in-kind gifts, “Bless the Community” also focuses on the enrichment of the soul through the Gospel. LKKS has partnered with Victory Christian Fellowship and Christ’s Commission Fellowship to conduct mass services at the Limketkai Center Atrium on the day of the gift-giving activity. According to Limketkai Development Corporation (LDC) Chairman and President Alfonso Lim, “We believe that food is not the only source of enrichment of the soul, but most especially the quality of each individual’s emotional and spiritual state. We are working together with our religious partners in this endeavor because one major goal of this outreach is to spread the Gospel to communities as well.”

A Community United in Generosity

In May, LKKS initiated a call for donations and established drop-off points at Limketkai Center for in-kind contributions. The response was overwhelming, with generous donations from Limketkai Development Corporation, Luxe Hotel, Jollibee Foods Corporation, Christ’s Commission Fellowship, and Victory Christian Fellowship. The collaborative spirit extended to working closely with the Sanguniang Barangays from Barangay 31, Barangay 35, and Lapasan to ensure the successful execution of this gift-giving program.

The Beginning of a Noble Journey

“Bless the Community” marks the beginning of LKKS’ ongoing efforts to pay it forward to the community through various programs and partnerships with relevant stakeholders in Cagayan de Oro and the region. This inaugural program aims to foster a spirit of generosity, communal support, and spiritual enrichment, setting the stage for future initiatives that will continue to benefit the local populations.

A Summary of the Activity

“Bless the Community” is the kickoff program for the launch of Limketkai Sons Inc. (LKKS)’s philanthropic endeavors. The program aims to pay it forward through community-specific programs and partnerships with multisectoral organizations. For its initial activity on July 1, 2024, 3,000 beneficiaries from Barangay 31, Barangay 35, and Lapasan will receive basic food necessities packs as LKKS’ way of sharing its blessings as it bounces back from the challenges of the pandemic. Through the event, LKKS acknowledges that supporting and nourishing its nearby communities is a path towards equitable growth, not just for the company but for the people. The program will also provide spiritual enrichment through masses hosted by partner religious organizations Christ’s Commission Fellowship and Victory Christian Fellowship at the Limketkai Center Atrium. LKKS hopes to forge meaningful long-term partnerships with communities as well as multisectoral organizations through programs like “Bless the Community.”
