Three Russian warships have docked in the Philippines to unload weaponry and military vehicles. The ships from Russia’s pacific fleet, including two anti-submarine vehicles, arrived on October 20th in Manila.

The delivery is part of a new defense relationship between the nations. According to Filipino and Russian Navy officials, the delivery included 5,000 assault riffles, 20 army trucks and a million rounds of ammunition.

Thi is the third port visit this year by Russion warships to the Philippines. Reuters reports the two countries are expected to sign a security deal on military logistics this week. A Philippines Navy spokesman said the visit is timed to coincide wit hte arrival of Russion Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and U.S Secretary of Defense, James Mattis. The Russian warship visit is scheduled to last until October 26.
